General Prayer List for PAPA fest 2011

Evan has divided this prayer list into seven "days" for those who wish to divide their praying into easily usable segments. The first five correspond to the primary components of this festival. The last two incorporate other "ways of praying" into our commitment to lift up this gathering to the Creator.

Day One: The Site

  • Thanks for those who have donated the use of this land and prayers for God's grace to them
  • That the land will be cared for throughout this event
  • For the Facilities, Stage, Creativity and other teams who create the environment for our temporary home, that the site will welcome and embrace those who come
  • For the Cleanup, Poo-town, and other teams who manage our waste in this site.

Day Two: People

  • Preparation of the hearts and minds of everyone who comes to the festival
  • For the Networking, Registration, Transportation and other teams who oversee the process of people joining us.
  • For the Children's Village, that our children will enjoy, learn and grow in this time
  • For those who volunteer (which is really all of us), that we might invest and celebrate this volunteer-run village for a few days, and that the coordination of all us volunteers might run as smoothly as possible.
  • That God might watch over the care of people. For the Physical Care, Risk Management and other teams that address our care. For those who address needs for food and water, that God may supply our needs.

Day Three: Vision and Atmosphere

  • That God might draw a dynamic group of Christians and others from around the country who want to volunteer and donate themselves to form a temporary village
  • That this event might be full of celebrating, supporting, and empowering one another in kingdom values and practices
  • That we might be motivated in all we do by the Spirit of God
  • That the activities of this event might foster the development of "do it yourself," earth-sustaining, and relationship building skills
  • That this event would, in some measure, result in a more compassionate and just world

Day Four: Communication and Coordination

  • For courage, wisdom, and God's touch to empower the Central Organizers who plan and manage this gathering
  • For the Administrative, Financial, Supplies, and other teams that address the details of coordinating the gathering, that God would supply all their needs
  • For the Website, the Announcement, and other teams that communicate between groups of people, that they might have understanding and the fruits of the Spirit flowing from their life and work
  • Peace and cooperation between committee members.
  • For inclusion and incorporation of various view points in planning and at the festival without losing the center/core.

Day Five: Activities

  • For the Liturgy team that they might be guided by the Spirit as they lead us into regular times of worship. Indeed, that we may encounter God.
  • For the morning learning workshops that God might oversee those who lead and that we who learn might find ourselves enriched through the workshops
  • Likewise that the skill sessions might empower and inspire us to new life and lifestyle
  • For the bartering village, the prayer chapel, the creativity spaces, the justice emphasis, and the informal times of relating, that they all might blend together with the other activities of the gathering to create a delightful symphony of life
  • For the times of music and other public arts, that through the these we might be express the fullness of our salvation

Day Six: Try Praying the Lord's Prayer as a model of praying for the event

  • "Hallowed be thy name" - that our Father in heaven might be honored through this festival
  • "Thy kingdom come" - that through this gathering, particular manifestations of God's way of living on earth might be explored and embodied
  • "Thy will be done" - Surrender the particulars and details of this festival to the Great Shepherd
  • "Give us this day our daily bread" - Offer up the particular needs that will arise, that God may supply them as we need them
  • "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive" - Confess those ways in which, in the process of putting on this event, or at the event, we fail to love or honor God or others. Express forgiveness to those who may have harmed you in the course of this festival.
  • "Lead us not into temptation/trial" - Plead that the Almighty may deliver us from the attacks of evil which may seek to thwart the work of God in the midst of this festival
  • "For thine is the kingdom . . ." - Give praise for God's character and work

Day Seven: Rest and Listen

  • Spend some time just sitting with God in holy leisure
  • Wait and see what the Spirit might bring to your mind about this gathering
  • Offer thanks
